The weekend got started off right.
I talked to Jacob in the morning and we decided that we were going to do something Saturday morning. So, I have wanted to go up this hill called Calton hill for a while, I pitched it - he was in. I called some people and we ended up getting a good group to go. Benny, Sogol, Taryn, Jacob, Malcolm, Amy and I headed off to the hill! It was a pretty good hike to get there, about 30-40 minutes from our flats, but well worth it. The views were incredible, at certain points on the hill you can get probably a 270 degree view of Edinburgh, if not more. It was a great adventure and in good company. Later that night it was time for a wine and cheese party! There was a group of about 25 of us who went over to Shannon and Rebeccas for the festivities that night. Definitely a good time!
Sunday was time for the USA vs Canada gold metal hockey match.
and as you can see. . .this was serious business!
This is about 1/2 of the group of people who were there, as the picture cuts off the bed that about 12 people were sitting on, and a few chairs spread out throughout the room. The total group was 30 people, 15 Americans and 15 Canadians. Needless to say, this was an intense game! Canada started off the strike with the first two goals. USA came back with one in the second period. The third period was a gut-wrenching back and forth tempo, and with less then one minute left, USA decided to pull the goalie. 44 seconds are left in the game, USA takes the puck up the ice... a few shots are deflected and then, just when we thought it was all over, with 22 seconds left the puck found its way into the back of the net to tie the game at 2-2! All the Americans went INSANE. We started chanting USA, and the Canadians were distraught, down right depressed. The game quickly went into overtime and everyone was on a new emotional high (or low). Unfortunately, our hopes vanished in the next 5 minutes, as Canada managed to slip a puck past good ol' Ryan Miller, and went on to win the gold metal. The celebrations were seemingly endless for the Canadians, even a little street parading was in store... all in all, great game and fun.
Monday brought a little sun to Edinburgh, and with that, I thought I would go for a little run. It wasn't too bad, except now my knees and shins hurt - aye yi yi i'm falling apart. I went to class after that. Some interesting stuff as usual, followed by a skype sesh with the mom and then the pops. That took my day into nightfall. I headed over to Dave and Bennys for the night, another friend Dave was there as well, we all just hungout and had a night in.
Tuesday I decided I should get some of these papers and projects I have that are all due within the same March 26-March 30th time period, DONE. So, I headed off to the library. I managed to bust out a complete research critique, to finish off my neuroscience coursework. I also started a research paper for cognitive psychology, unfortunately the computers there wouldn't allow me to open some of the files I needed to open - so I will probably head back to finish this one on Thursday. If so, I will only have to write an essay and presentation for Scottish Culture and I am all done (minus exams!). Although this isn't mentioning the two research projects I will be doing seemingly endless work for. . . but that is all for fun, right?! :)
